Landcare Enabling Program – Phase 3

Strengthening Landcare Through Innovation and Aboriginal Partnerships Across the North Coast

Over the next 12 months, North Coast Regional Landcare Network (NCRLN) and its 11 Local Landcare Networks will deliver a range of initiatives designed to strengthen Landcare’s impact across the region, support communities to respond to climate challenges, and deepen partnerships with Aboriginal communities.

Made possible through more than $1.27 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Landcare Enabling Program, the investment will help build a stronger, more connected and resilient Landcare network while supporting local action for healthy landscapes and communities.

The funding will support two major regional programs:

  • North Coast Local Innovation Regional Impact – $579,268
  • Walking Together: North Coast Aboriginal Partnerships & Cultural Capability Program – $698,533

Together, these projects will invest in the people, partnerships and systems that underpin Landcare on the North Coast.

Investing in Innovation and Local Impact

The North Coast Local Innovation Regional Impact project will strengthen the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of Landcare across the region.

Working closely with Local Landcare Networks, the project will support environmental innovation, leadership development, community education, digital capacity and strategic communications. It will also help strengthen natural capital outcomes and improve climate preparedness for Landcare groups, landholders and communities.

By building local skills, knowledge and resources, the project will help Landcare continue to deliver practical, community-led solutions for biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, soil health, waterway restoration and climate resilience.

Walking Together on Country

The Walking Together: North Coast Aboriginal Partnerships & Cultural Capability Program builds on more than four years of Aboriginal Landcare leadership across the North Coast.

The program will continue the employment of Aboriginal Coordinators while supporting stronger and more meaningful partnerships between Landcare networks and Aboriginal communities. It will also focus on embedding culturally safe governance and workforce practices, creating opportunities for cultural learning and knowledge exchange, and ensuring Aboriginal voices continue to shape Landcare initiatives across the region.

Through this work, NCRLN is committed to strengthening relationships, supporting Aboriginal leadership and creating pathways for collaborative care of Country.
