The North Coast Regional Landcare Network (NCRLN) is committed to ensuring its digital platform is inclusive, usable, and accessible to the broadest possible audience, including older volunteers, rural communities with varying connection speeds, and individuals utilising assistive technologies.

 

1. Compliance Target

We are actively working towards aligning our website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. Our ongoing review targets key improvements in font legibility, logical structural hierarchies, keyboard navigation capability, and color contrast thresholds.

2. Known Document Limitations & Remediation Plan

NCRLN acts as a central digital clearinghouse for historical and regional environmental information. Because of the age and origin of certain documents, we have identified specific limitations that we are actively working to fix through a staged remediation process:

  • Legacy PDF Documents: Many older regional planting guides, state factsheets, and external toolkits are provided in legacy PDF formats. These files may lack tag structures, making them difficult for screen readers to interpret cleanly. We are progressively converting essential publications into accessible text-based formats or structured web pages.

  • Historical Image Repositories: Older image galleries and document covers may currently lack comprehensive alternative text description tags (alt-text). Adding precise alt-text to historical and newly uploaded image files is a primary focus of our current website update cycle.

3. Technical Specifications

The accessibility of northcoastlandcare.org.au relies on standard web technologies to function across modern browsers and assistive combinations, including HTML, semantic CSS, and JavaScript. We regularly review these elements to support smooth scaling and font readability adjustments.

4. Feedback and Alternative Formats
